VITA is the new accelerator for startups that develop new solutions or services for Health, based on technological and digital applications. The program is part of the CDP National Accelerators Network thus taking shape from an initiative of CDP Venture Capitalacross the Accelerators Fundand is made together with Healthware Groupa company in the portfolio of the FITEC Fund managed by the Italian Investment Fund (in turn controlled by CDP Equity) engaged in innovation and technology in the health sector and in financing digital health startups through the corporate VC Healthware Ventures which will operationally manage the project, and to the Danish accelerator Acceleracespecialized in seed investments, with a track record of over 650 international startups and scaleups.
The program also benefits from the support of Zcube – Zambon Research Venture, as innovation partner and corporate partner Petrone Group, holding of over 30 companies with global footprint in Europe, USA and East Asia with focus in the pharmaceutical distribution sector, service provider to biotech companies, active as a catalyst for innovative companies and SIFI , an international company operating in the field of ophthalmology which, through an open innovation model, intends to invest in innovative digital solutions and therapies, enriching its pipeline of drugs and medical devices. About 20 national and international ecosystem partners have already joined the program, including relevant institutions such as the ENPAM Foundation and IRCCS such as the National Cancer Institute, Pascale Foundation in Naples.
The VITA’s total endowment for investments in the acceleration phase and for subsequent growth steps will be € 6.35 million, of which € 4.55 million allocated by the Accelerator Fund of CDP Venture Capital together with Healthware Group and Accelerace, to which 1.8 million euros are added, made available by the initiative’s corporate partners.
The accelerator aims to support the development of startups active in the digital health sector and able to offer innovative solutions for the digital transformation of health and the health system, including: digital therapies, telemedicine and digital health platforms, remote diagnostics and monitoring, mental health solutions and support in therapy management, innovative drug distribution systems. A particular focus will be placed on innovative solutions for respiratory diseases, ophthalmology, women’s health, rare diseases, chronic pain diseases and more.
Up to 10 startups in the seed and pre-seed phase will be selected every year for three years, which will be able to access a development path structured by the accelerator’s partners, to be guided towards the certification of their business model. The selected startups will also have access to a network of national and international stakeholders, as well as the opportunity to participate in sector events, including the Frontiers Health global conference.
Furthermore, those who emerge as the best teams within the project will have the opportunity to access further investments already allocated by the promoters of the initiative.
