There is a rich calendar of ministerial meetings and special events, as well as the summit of leaders to be held at the end of October. The Global Health Summit will be held on 21 May in Rome which will also host the G20 Health on 5-6 September. The calendar of events will involve many regions, among others, Lombardy, Liguria, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, Abruzzo, Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia. A choral effort that will see cities, villages, schools, universities, Italian excellence as protagonists.
02 DIC – The Italian Presidency of the G20 officially began on 1 December 2020. The calendar includes the holding of numerous ministerial meetings, to which must be added the Summit of Leaders in Rome on 30-31 October 2021, and numerous ‘special events’. The ministerial appointments and ‘special events’, which will cover a large part of the national territory, will begin in May.
As regards health in the context of the G20, Italy will host another event of extraordinary importance in a year that will see our country even more than usual at the center of global issues: in collaboration with the European Commission, on 21 May the Global Health Summit will be held in Rome, which aims to address the main challenges connected to the health emergency with a synergistic approach. The G20 Health will also be held in Rome on 5-6 September
The ministerial calendar is organized according to the following scheme:
1) Culture-Tourism in Rome, 3-4 May. 2) Work-Education in Catania, June 22-23.
3) Foreign-Development in Matera with ad hoc session on Development Cooperation in Brindisi, June 28-30.
4) Economy and Finance in Venice, 9-10 July.
5) Environment-Climate-Energy in Naples, 22-23 July.
6) Innovation and Research in Trieste, 5-6 August.
7) Salute in Rome, 5-6 September.
8) Agriculture in Florence, 19-20 September.
9) International trade in Sorrento, 5 October.
10) joint MEF-Health ministerial segment on the occasion of the final Summit of 30-31 October in Rome.
An international ministerial conference on women’s empowerment will also be held on 26 August. The venue will be defined shortly.
Special events
It is a series of high-profile events in which specific subjects will be addressed and which will see the involvement of other territorial realities of the country.
In particular, the ‘special events’ will be dedicated to the major issues on the global agenda, such as the protection of health and sustainability, women’s empowerment, innovation and research, the fight against corruption.
The calendar of these events is in an advanced stage of definition. Among others, Lombardy, Liguria, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, Abruzzo, Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia will be involved. A choral effort that will see cities, villages, schools, universities, Italian excellence as protagonists.
In addition to leading the work of the G20, Italy will be a partner of the United Kingdom in the COP26 on climate change in 2021. The preparatory meeting of the Conference, the so-called PreCop, and the related Youth event will take place in Milan on September 30-October 2 and September 28-30, respectively.
