The Gran Paradiso National Park wins the Green Travel Award

The Gran Paradiso National Park turns 100 this year and celebrates them in a big way. He has just been given a nice gift: on 11 April he won the “Green Travel Award”: it is the prestigious recognition for the excellence of sustainable and responsible tourism.

It has contributed to preserving the environment and enhancing the traditions, typical features and economy of the territory and together it has contributed to the growth of the quality of life of local communities: these are the reasons for the award conferred by the Italian Tourist Press Group. «Furthermore, the Giro Parco itinerary, which connects all the slopes, allows you to admire the landscape diversity of the territory – underlined the jury -. Also of great value is the Park Quality Mark awarded to operators in the tourism, hotel, crafts and agri-food sectors engaged in a path of quality and sustainability, which guarantees consumers the origin from the Park territory, the quality of the work, a welcome characterized by respect for the environment as well as courtesy and local traditions ». In short, many positive aspects that have earned this recognition in the centenary year. Certainly a satisfaction for all operators of the Park: «This is a special moment for us who are about to kick off the celebrations of the first centenary of the protected area – said Italo Cerise, President of PNGP -. who declared: “I am happy to receive this recognition on behalf of the entire Park Authority. I am even more proud of the reasons that prompted the jury to award us the award, giving due emphasis to the efforts made in terms of management, conservation and dissemination. We look to the future with hope, ensuring the maximum commitment on our part in wanting to preserve our territory and all the extraordinary peculiarities that characterize it, as well as contributing to its development ».

Among the initiatives scheduled from here until the end of June is an “Alpine Safari for families”: various walks accompanied by NaturAlp guides to warn the Park’s animals. A beautiful experience among marmots as soon as they wake up, ibex lying in the sun, chamois in search of the greenest tuft of grass, bearded vulture and golden eagle with their circular flights.
