Fast fashion meets luxury

Luxury returns to bet on collaborations with fast fashion players. In the past we have seen H&M collaborate with luxury brands several times: it all started in 2004 with Karl Lagerfeld. The t-shirt with the designer’s face was sold out and still today those items of clothing are very popular. In 2005 it was the turn of Stella McCartney, in 2006 of Viktor & Rolf and in 2007 of Roberto Cavalli. 2008, on the other hand, was the year of Comme des Garcons, 2009 of Jimmy Choo and 2010 of Lanvin. In 2009 and 2010, Sonia Rykiel also collaborated with the low cost brand, and again and again to this day. And now? What is the news? Do you know Uniqlo?

Uniqlo is a Japanese company that designs, manufactures and sells casual clothing for men, women and children. Uniqlo is one of the leading clothing chains in the market at home, both in terms of profits and volume of sales. In Italy for now it has a single store in Milan. Uniqlo has more than 2,300 stores in 25 markets and recorded global sales of approximately 2.13 trillion yen for fiscal year 2021. In 2010 the company established an ethical business in Bangladesh together with Grameen Bank and today there are more than 15 Grameen-Uniqlo store, most of which in the city of Dhaka. The novelty is the Uniqlo and Marni collaboration: the Japanese brand has announced a collaboration for a series of garments in which the aesthetics of the brand designed by the designer stands out Francesco Risso.

The pop-style graphic prints and the white color are in fact the leitmotifs of this capsule, made up of nine feminine garments and ten for menswear. The outfits are dedicated to dailywear, on the one hand with Marni’s patterns and on the other with the oversized volumes typical of Uniqlo. The partnership includes 9 women’s, 10 men’s and multicolored socks. The cost of the clothes does not exceed € 149.90. The flagship pieces were customized with pop-style graphic prints created specifically for the collection, presented in larger and smaller iterations in a play of proportions. The collection will be on sale starting May 19th. The collection with Marni adds to the various collaborations that Uniqlo realizes together with Jw Anderson, Theory and Ines de la Fressange. So, if you don’t want to commit too much in terms of budget, I recommend a dip in luxury at Uniqlo!
