From multi-million dollar Kardashian dos, to Christine Quinn’s lavish gothic spectacle, weddings are a big deal in celebrity world. But sometimes even famous people decide to go for something a little more low-key and spontaneous, like an elopement.

From Chrissy Teigen and John Legend to Lily Allen and David Harbour and even THE Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, celeb elopements seem to be becoming a bit more of a ‘thing’ in Hollywood, and we’re into it, even if it is just because of how wild they look on Instagram. Here’s our list of our favourite celebrity couples who you probably forgot eloped.

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker

Okay, so, our immediate reaction to Kravis’s Vegas elopement was kind of undermined when it came to light that the pair didn’t actually have a marriage license. But it’s still an elopement of sorts, right?

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas

Sophie and Joe had us all a bit obsessed with their romance already, and that was before they swiftly tied the knot in Las Vegas right after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The small ceremony was attended by the Jonas brothers and the couple exchanged ring pop sweets instead of wedding bands. They then went onto have a very fancy second ceremony in the French countryside a few months later.

Lily Allen and David Harbour

Lily and David were just *rumoured* to be engaged at the point when she posted a series of pictures of their Las Vegas wedding on Instagram back in September 2020. Obsessed.

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski

The couple got married back in 2017 in a super low-key ceremony in the US. Speaking on The Late Late Show with James Corden Sadoski broke the news, saying, “We eloped. We just took off into the country with an officiant and just the two of us, and we did our thing.”

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

These two kind of accidentally eloped back in 2013, right before their very fancy Lake Como wedding. Why? “We are dumb and didn’t realise that our Italian wedding would not be recognised unless we had a real ceremony in New York City,” Chrissy told AND! news later that year.

Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso

Matt and Luciana met back in 2003 when she was working behind the bar in a packed Miami club. Two years later the pair tied the knot at Manhattan’s City Hall in a quiet, private ceremony.

Kiera Knightley and James Righton

The Pirates of the Caribbean star andher musician boyfriend said ‘I do’ in a town hall in the south of France, with only family present for the 10 minute ceremony.

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen

Everyone’s favourite pair have been married for what feels like forever, mainly because there wasn’t a big lavish ceremony for us to obsess over. The couple got married in a casual ceremony back in March 2010 after running off to Paris.
