Password Together. This is the theme that Wired has chosen for the fifth edition of Wired Health, the event dedicated to innovation in the health sector and the role that digital technologies can play in this sector. The appointment is at Milan base the next March 15.
The transformation to which i health systems after the pandemic require the rethinking of business models and relationships with research institutions, from changing access to health by patients to that of the role of companies on the market, the development of territorial medicine and a full and conscious use of data. All changes that have collaboration as their sole denominator, which is precisely the theme of this edition of Wired Health, which relies on scientific collaboration with Humanities.
The first protagonists
Topic that will be at the center of the opening speech entrusted to Bart De Wittefounder & ceo of Hippo AI Foundationwhich will talk about the need for one democratization of health data. That is, of the need to generate open data that can allow the training of algorithms and the generation of targeted and more effective services, but that can also give companies the opportunity to develop new business. A theme, that of data, which will also be dealt with by the intervention of Walter Ricciardi, lecturer at the Catholic University and consultant to the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza. It is no coincidence that part of the funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) will be used for the digitization of the health system and to ensure the full interoperability of databases.
Database such as the one used to train AlphaFold, the artificial intelligence application developed by DeepMind from Alphabet and hosted atEmbl. And the director of the English branch of this reality, Rolf Apweiller, will tell how this algorithm has learned to determine the three-dimensional structure of proteins, opening up a revolution in the world of biology. Apweiller will also recount the experience of OpenTargetsa digital platform for the development of new drugs, and of Covid-19 Data Portal, a storage space for data related to Sars-CoV-2. All experiences, to reconnect with the theme of the day, the result of a collaboration between public realities such as the EMBL and private companies.
The role of private individuals in the world of health, in particular the role of investors, will be discussed with Paolo Fundaròceo of Genextraa fund that deals with early-stage investments. Pierluigi Paracchiceo of Genenta Science, instead, will talk about how his company that deals with developing cancer therapies starting from stem cells has come to be listed on the Nasdaq. In particular, the focus of his speech will concern the difficulties of companies in transferring these innovative solutions to the market.
The other stories on stage
Another case history on the stage of Wired Health is that of Hippocratesa holding company that manages a network of over 200 pharmacies on the national territory. The co-founder Davide Tavaniello he will talk about how these realities are becoming touch points to guarantee an increasingly wide range of health services and products. One of the themes that will cross this edition is in fact that of local medicine. Topic which he will also discuss Stefano Massaroceo of Cerba HealthCare.
