ROME – It opens in the name of the ‘Renaissance’, all female, the Roma Fashion Week. ‘The future is a woman’ is the title of the talk in the Sala Fellini degli Studi di Cinecittà conducted by the journalist Stefano Di Traglia and dedicated to female entrepreneurship and enterprise. “We are almost a family for these young designers – said the president Silvia Venturini Fendi -, Here because I love to define Rome Fashion Week as the cradle of the new. Fashion intercepts the moment and anticipates changes with its visions. There was a strong reaction to the pandemic, also experienced with imagination. This is our fortieth edition in twenty years, but I ‘see’ the forty-first with a lot of public ”.

The councilor for economic development, trade and craftsmanship of the Lazio Region intervened to encourage the growth and success of the event, Paolo Orneli: “This will be a year of transformation and turning point, last year it was a restart. We are in a challenge of overall transformation of the development model. We must not go back, innovation and sustainability are feminine, the participation of women in the construction of a new business model serves everyone, not just women. The relaunch of Made in Italy in the world is very important and fashion is the area par excellence. Rome Fashion Week plays a valuable role at the national level, this year we will implement a fundamental change that it will see the passage of Altaroma from company to foundation. The Region will thus be able to invest more in the talents, experimentation, innovation and sustainability of the designers who arrive in Rome “.

“The Chamber of Commerce – he explained Lorenzo Tagliavantipresident of the Rome Chamber of Commerce – has the task of supporting all those economic sectors that can guarantee development in the territories. The relationship between fashion and Rome is so strong that it is not negligible, an ancient tradition such as that of tailoring cannot be dispersed. We do not want and cannot lose this trend, and it is clear that we must always be reborn and renew ourselves: young people break the mold and are important protagonists. Of the 14 thousand companies in the area linked to fashion, the female ones are many and very high from a qualitative point of view “.
And again, to underline the importance of the role of women in the world of work and fashion, the councilor for productive activities and equal opportunities of the municipality of Rome intervened, Monica Lucarelli: “Equal opportunities are strongly linked to productive activities, I would like to specify it: these two powers are strengthened together. Rome is much more than what is said and there are many centers of excellence. In the world of fashion, for example, we can’t just talk about tailoring. Rome looks to the future and to innovations. With the pandemic, the look to the future has become very fast. The data of women’s businesses in Rome and Lazio are encouraging but we are talking about companies and activities that are on average smaller and less digitized than men’s. The intrinsic value in female worth must be helped to grow. Women’s businesses are generally the most socially aware. Rome with young people and women’s businesses could become the world hub of fashion and sustainable development“.
“More quality and less quantity is the trend registered in recent months by consumers – said the undersecretary at the foreign ministry, Manlio Di Stefano – For large companies we have implemented the ‘Be It’ communication campaign that is bringing made in Italy to 26 countries around the world: the result is extraordinary “.
President Ice, Carlo Ferroon the other hand, communicated encouraging data: “Exports in 2021 grew by 6%. The fashion sector in 2020 suffered more from the downturn of the pandemic but made a good recovery in 2021. The Ice Agency has implemented 19 new actions available to companies ”. Even the Minister for Equal Opportunities, Elena Bonettiintervened remotely in the talk dedicated to the female renaissance: “Altaroma’s Rome Fashion Week creates connections and integration for a restart project that cannot fail to recognize how much the female is a strategic resource. With the National Recovery and Resilience Plan we have taken a further step towards gender equality. Women and female entrepreneurship can represent the new face of this transition period also for a capacity for perspective and vision, for genius and the construction of beauty. To the fund of 40 million euros for women’s businesses, 400 million euros are now added thanks to the NRP for women’s entrepreneurship and startups. The loans will lead to the birth of new businesses but are also intended to accompany companies and activities that already exist. Istat certifies a female employment rate of 47.3% in June 2020 but to date we have recovered with a rate of 50.5%, which shows that we are moving in the right direction ”, concludes Minister Bonetti.
