Daniel Radcliffe divulges who his top three celebrity crushes are during a recent interview for his new comedy/action film, The Lost City.
While promoting The Lost City, Daniel Radcliffe unveiled his list of biggest celebrity crushes. Radcliffe first made a name for himself playing the young wizard Harry Potter, and spent most of his childhood bringing JK Rowling’s original novels to the big screen. Since the last Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2hit screens, the actor has diversified his portfolio by venturing into some very unique roles. In fact, Radcliffe’s next part will see him take on the character of real-life musician/comedian Weird Al Yankovic in an upcoming biopic.
Despite his impressive acting career and an unmatched level of fame due to his Harry Potter role, Radcliffe has managed to keep most of his personal life out of the news, which is a feat that a majority of child stars are often unable to achieve. The media focus on Radcliffe has generally been on his career, something which the actor has said he prefers. Radcliffe has also understandably kept his romantic life relatively private, but he has been in a long-term relationship with his partner, fellow actor Erin Darke, for nearly 10 years.
However, the British radio show Capital Breakfast recently pressed Radcliffe on his romantic interests while he was doing some press for The Lost City. Radcliffe took part in a game that required him to answer an array of random questions honestly (or have a fan suffer an unwanted consequence). During this segment of the show, Radcliffe was asked to name his top three celebrity crushes. The actor did not hesitate before disclosing his answer, admitting to his past crushes on stars Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore. When asked about a more recent crush, Radcliffe also gave Juno Temple’s name.
Radcliffe was extremely quick to proclaim that his top two choices were Diaz and Barrymore, which were crushes cultivated when he was younger. In contrast, Ted Lasso star Temple worked with the actor back in 2013 when the pair filmed the horror-fantasy films Horns together. While pushed to name a third crush under the time pressure of the segment, Radcliffe described his former co-star Temple as “gorgeous” before letting the radio show’s fan guest off the hook.
Considering Radcliffe grew up in the 1990s and early 2000s watching Diaz and Barrymore’s movies, two of Hollywood’s most notable actresses, his answers make sense. And while he didn’t name her in this particular segment, during the recent Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special, Radcliffe admitted to having had a long-running crush on co-star Helena Bonham Carter as a young man, too. Given Radcliffe’s answers, and this previous tidbit about Carter, the actor clearly bases his crushes on actors whose work he enjoys and respects, and The Lost City star certainly has an impressive and talented list.
