10 fashion magazine you should know – Icon

In the 90s Purple, Self Service and Visionaire indelibly traced the editorial imagery of fashion magazines. In three decades – it is the long list of magazines that can be quoted as Dazed & Confused, Another Magazine, Grafik, Pop, Love – the glossy paper has had neither limits nor borders: it can be said that every season always brings with it new editorial releases that they try – sometimes succeeding – to stand out and make a difference.

At home in Berlin, Œ Magazine is an independent fashion publication conceived as a platform for emerging creatives, artists, photographers and even passing personalities sensitive to the world of fashion. Focused mainly on the Berlin scene, Œ Magazine has managed to establish itself on the European scene due to the strong impact of its editorials open to experimentation. On newsstands issue 9 “The Female Gaze” offers 10 editorials designed exclusively by women.

Dapper Dan

With ‘we believe in the revolution’, Dapper Dan drew attention to its glossy pages. It is presented as a semester on men’s fashion and philosophy. The editorial staff has published a real manifesto that proclaims: “We believe that a man’s style is something that derives from his own personality, not from ephemeral ‘trends’. We like conceited men. Men with purpose and soul. Brilliant, intelligent and creative, with ideas and ideologies, which do not fit the standards. Misfits? Yes. We don’t believe in negativity. We believe in the revolution. ”

Fucking Young

Fucking Young is based in Barcelona and was born as an aggregation of creative minds that draw inspiration from the youthful aesthetic that revolves around the male world. Very present on the web with a site that is always updated and refined, the paper version of the bimonthly magazine is characterized by a theme that is gutted from different points of view. The latest issue MENA FW 21/22 has the cover story signed by Mous Lamrabat, a photographer who stands out for his particular sensitivity in blending Western symbols with the Moroccan world in a unique style.

Boycott Magazine

It presents itself as a magazine that is much more than a cool binder of fashion, art, music, dance. ‘Refreshing’ in its establishment on the French glossy scene, Boycott offers new perspectives on fashion research publishing. Founded in 2015 in Paris, it has numerous and prestigious collaborations. The latest issue, again to respect the desire to be an ‘influential visual bible’, features Ben Attal dressed in Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello on the cover, photographed by Laurent Humbert.

Behind the Blinds

Fashion, photography, architecture, music and much more are the ‘places’ where it sweeps Behind the Blindsthe ‘opaque’ magazine – the choice of character not to print on glossy paper – which wants to give a behind-the-scenes vision of the phenomena related to the different contemporary lifestyles. Founded by Michael Marson in Brussels, it has reached its 11th issue and, bought online, gives the possibility to choose the cover. Among the protagonists of the latest issue: SAINt JHN by Rowan Papier, Isaac Cole Powell by Lorenz Schmidl, Lou Doillon by Amanda Elise K.

Let’s not call it a magazine! A part a new creation is proclaimed, a new concept of art book. With the ambition of being a reference point for contemporary aesthetics, a true object of art in all respects, A part changes content, style and format with each issue: unpublished layouts, changing contents according to the guests on duty, unpredictable and never predictable graphics.
In limited edition, each issue is a true collector’s item. The last one has a mirror cover and contents that revolve around the concept of individuality and by ‘title’ Look at me. The cover could only be more apt: a mirror to reflect on.

Founded in 2016 in Paris, Sixteen is an artistic platform that celebrates the power of storytelling. Published twice a year, it looks like a rare object curated to the point of obsession. Ranging from unknown talents to mastersits strength lies precisely in this mix of exuberance of the new generations and experience of the big names in fashion, photography, art etc. The important thing, underlines the editorial staff, is to provoke questions, without giving answers, but soliciting continuous questions: “We are an evolutionary podium of ideas to inspire, challenge and amaze our audience.” The latest editorial adventure, volume 4, hosts, among others, Roe Ethridge, Chadwick Tyler, Laurence Ellis, Arnaud Lajeunie, Anthony Blasko, Gareth McConnell etc.

The magazine Double

The Parisian Double, does everything not to seem like the usual “fashion magazine that offers an original and transversal point of view on the spirit of our times.” She first of all she has a double soul: a large portfolio of an artist-photographer with an honorable role on the one hand and texts written by famous art and film journalists on the other. The visual aspect is intertwined with long and captivating narratives. The latest issue is dedicated to the ‘Breaking point’, with four different covers to choose from.

Herdes Magazine

A beautiful publication dedicated to fashion and travel, enclosed in a hard cover.
Launched in 2016, Herdes proposes itself as a source of inspiration for a “creative, nomadic and style-leading” generation. Ambitious in defining itself as a ‘revolutionary’ publication, Herdes aims at the combination of travel and fashion to tell new contents. Each issue is dedicated to a single destination, told through fashion, art, design and architecture.
The last one is dedicated to Barcelona – “a vibrant city with a slow life” – and will be available for purchase from 15 December.

Antidote magazine

Presented as a collectable book rather than a fashion magazine, the Parisian Antidote focuses on the authorship of a single personality to make a difference. Each issue is given carte blanche to a creative to devise contents, styles and fashion services. The choice of the creative director is not limited to the circuit of artists or stylists, but also ranges between directors, sociologists and other professionals. The latest issue focuses on a special project to celebrate the 10th anniversary with Antidote Box FW21, a box set that contains four publications: the magazine, Antidote Curates, the fanzine and the newspaper.
